In the latest soccer news: Sheanon Williams and Aaron Maund visited family in T&T during their break before the semi-finals against Trinidad & Tobago. Both players lived in the tropical island where they both developed their love for the game. Maund recently changed his allegiance to the USA after playing for the T&T U-17 National Team petitioning to play for the USA in these qualifiers. The dynamic duo played together on a U-15 squad that won the National Championship several years ago.

The two shared their thoughts on Trinidad and Tobago Mens National Team and stated that "they see the USA as their biggest rival and competition in CONCACAF." With the conclusion of Carnival, the T&T fans can now focus on the bigger picture which is qualifying for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Their performance against El Salvador provoked sadness for the islanders as they should have won the game sacrificing 2 additional points.

Latest Soccer News: Dilly Duka? Who?

Posted by Joel Shirey On March - 6 - 2009

In the latest soccer news: When US fans read the 20 man roster for the u-20 CONCACAF Qualifiers, many were surprised to see Dilly Duka. Who is that? Why is he on the team? Well, it appears that Thomas Rongen felt that Duka could contribute positively to the U-20 side.

He is currently playing for Rutgers University and has drawn interest from Belgian club Andrelect. Goal.com provided a bio on Dilly Duka to inform you on his history. In addition, I will also include a bio on Jared Jeffrey.

In the latest soccer news, a report from Soccer by Ives suggests that U-20 US international, Vincenzo Bernardo, is still uncertain on which national team he will represent, USA or Italy. ESPN's soccernet segment reports a different perspective  when Bernardo stated that "At the moment I feel the U.S. has shown me more trust as a player, and I just feel real comfortable wearing the red, white and blue.''

He added that "I want to win something big for the U.S. because we haven't won anything. Even at the U-20 level we have a lot of talent, and I think we have the possibility of winning something very important, a World Cup or whatever."  Unfortunately for Bernardo, his exclusion from the U-20 roster  for the CONCACAF Qualifiers in Tobago has fueled speculation that his omission stems from disclipinary action in a previous U-20 camp.

Thomas Rongen is the crucificial lamb on blogs across the USA for publicly criticizing Neven Subotic and excluding him from the U-20 roster which lacked solid central defenders for the U-20 World Cup in Canada. Subotic's departure to the Serbian National team has soured US' fans opinions of Rongen and his choice of words for his players.

Bernardo's Website  features various photos in his US National team uniform. He has started to offer summer soccer camps in his home state of New Jersey. It is difficult to say in which direction he will go. It appears that he could be upset by his exclusion or could be because of his recent knee and leg injury that he recently suffered. What ever the case may be. Soccer Addict News will keep you updated on his status.

Are these conflicting reports just away to strong hold the USSF? Or is he just keeping his options? Do you think the disclipinary action had something to do with his exclusion?  Let us know what you think!!!!
