In the latest soccer news, Fulham FC, today, masqueraded as the fun, loving side which performs well for its' fans at home in Craven Cottage defeating West Bromwich Albion 2-0. Their Jekyll-and-Hyde season has produced moments of brilliance such as the home Chelsea and Arsenal games. But, their dismal away performances have only contributed to three goals. The Fulham FC, that we have grown to love (hint of sarcasm), thoroughly dominated West Bromwich in the first half which could have translated into at least two goals as they squandered endless scoring chances.
This soccer video features Fulham's two goals against West Brom.
Clint Dempsey's long range strike which hit the crossbar from 35 yards away could have put Fulham up 1-0. Also, Dempsey continued his creativity with a flick to a streaking Bobby Zamora but hit the ball high and wide. Murphy's excellent set-piece kick almost wentin near post but West Bromwich's keeper Scott Carson made a diving save keeping a clean sheet during the first half.
West Bromwich surged in the first ten minutes of the second half providing a quasi-potent attack before Fulham took full control of the game. Bobby Zamora finally scored after 29 hours of a Premier League goal-less stretch and could have scored a hat trick when he was presented with two clear chances. Unfortunatley, Zamora ruined two additional scoring chances that offered a vulnerable and open goal mouth. Andy Johnson, who received a visit from English National team coach, Fabio Capello, scored from a Zamora deflection in the 71st minute scoring his 6th goal of the season.
Although Fulham and Bobby Zamora got the monkey of their back and back to winning ways, Fulham feels that concentration must no be lost as they are striving to reach the magical 40 points. Coach Roy Hodgson spoke with Sky Sports stating that ''Until we pass that magical 40 (point) mark we won't even contemplate that things are looking easier. If we get past that mark we can start raising our heads a little bit and hoping for the higher places in the league. But I'm really happy today. In a game we did need to win it was important to get that victory and the points in the bag.''
Earlier in the week, I predicted that Fulham FC would defeat West Bromwich Albion 2-0. As wide receiver Chad Johsnon legally changed his name to Ocho Cinco, I began to ponder the idea of creating a nickname for myself such as "Joelstradamus" after Nostradamus, the prophetic French apothecary. If my predictions continue to succeed, I might consider changing my name legally to "Joelstradamus" LOL. Not even a charity penalty kick in the 92nd minute could spoil my prediction as goal keeper Mark Schwarzer made a diving save to secure the 2-0 win. But, with all jokes aside, I could feature a Joelstradamus piece giving my predictions for the week, as I ponder legally changing my name. Look for this piece for the start of the Major League Soccer season.
What do you think of Fulham's performance? Should Fulham have scored at least two goals in the first half? Would you like to see my name changed to Joelstradamus? LOL Will Fulham finish in the top ten? Will West Brom escape relegation? Share your thoughts.
